STAGEFIGHT now uses the European Certificate
of Skilled Performance Combat qualification
scheme for its training and examination format.
The European Certificate of Skilled Performance
Combat (ECSPC) is quickly becoming recognised
as the best and most historically accurate
performance combat system available. Far
exceeding the levels of training and safety of
other stage combat systems, the European
Certification system drawers on and makes safe
the teachings and methods from original
historical fight manuals rather than just using the
modified modern fencing techniques of other
systems. In addition the training ensures a
heightened level of performance strength and
application.
Many years of dedicated research and
development in both the UK and Europe has
backed the creation of this system. Training
focuses on teaching both techniques and
performance on an equal level rather than just
teaching how to ‘fight by numbers’ and
examinations do not just focus on performing a
fight routine.
The ECSPC currently focuses on the following
combat systems: -
- Unarmed Combat
- Single-Rapier
- Medieval Sword/Longsword
- Dagger/Knife
- Rapier & Dagger
- Sticks/Staves/Quarterstaff
- Sword & Shield/Barrier
- Smallsword
There are four levels of training; Level-1-Basic,
Level-2-Intermediate, Level-3-Advanced and
Level-4-Instructor. Qualification results are FAIL,
PASS, MERIT and DISTINCTION.
All students must attend and pass the Level-1-
Basic course which combines the three combat
systems of Unarmed Combat (Level-1), Medieval
Sword/Longsword/Broadsword (Level-1) and
Single-Rapier (Level-1).
