QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT
The European Certificate of Skilled Performance Combat scheme does not
only rely on a single examination based iin the student having to perform
an extended fight routine. These qualifications are based on a programme
of continual assessment designed to prepare and develop a candidate’s
awareness and execution of performance combat. Training has an equal
emphasis on accurate technique and performance flair. The obtainable
grades at each level are: Fail, Pass, Merit and Distinction. Guidance for
grading is as follows:
FAIL:The student:
Failed to meet the criteria of all the KEY STAGE’s within each
modular requirement of the qualification level being studied. Basic
skills and techniques were unsafe and performance was not
allowed or not worthy of credit.
PASS: The student:
- Meets the criteria of all the KEY STAGE’s with each modular
requirement of the qualification level being studied.
- Is able to safely perform skills and techniques fundamental to
the dicipline being studied without risk.
- Is able to perform skills and techniquues in isolation but requires
guidance to link skills and techniques into a performance.
- Knowledge and understanding of theory and history is acceptable.
- Has a reasonable understanding of the role they had during the
performance and demonstrated a reasonable level of acting and
stagecraft skills.
MERIT: The student:
- Meets the criteria of all the KEY STAGE’s within each modular
requirement of the qualification level being studied.
- Is able to safely perform the skills and techniques of the discipline
being studied while displaying a heightened awareness of risk.
- Is able to consistently perform skills and techniques in isolation and
is able to link many skills and techniques into a performance.
- Knowledge and understanding of theory and history is good.
- Has a good understanding of both the role they and others play
during a performance and demonstrate a good level of acting and
stagecraft skills.
DISTINCTION: The student:
- Meets the criteria of all the KEY STAGE’s within each modulat
requirement of the qualification level being studied.
- Is able to safely perform an increasing range of basic skills and
techniques of the discipline being studied while displaying an
excellent awareness of risk.
- Is able to consistently perform skills and techniques both in
isolation and as part of a performance.
- Knowledge and understanding of theory and history allows student
to assist in safely planning complex sequences of actions or
performance.
- Can demonstrate a clear understanding of all the roles of those
involved in the performance and the importance of those roles.
Acting and stagecraft skills during the performance are excellent.
